Take 5

What is the Take 5 Challenge?

“Our greatest danger is letting the urgent things crowd out the important."  Charles Hummel

Discipleship ... some consider it a worthy investment of their time and energy, yet in the busyness of life, it's turns into one of the "extras" that gets placed on the "I'll get to it someday" shelf.  Some consider discipleship a subject reserved for the spiritual elite, so they place it on the "I'm not ready for this" shelf.  While still others put discipleship on the "I've never thought about it" shelf.  They accepted Christ as their Savior and never got around to thinking about how they could make Him Lord of their life.

Knowing that the pace of life for many fluctuates between busy and busier, we have decided to approach the topic of discipleship from a fresh perspective ... one that removes it from whatever shelf you've placed it on and makes it part of your day to day life.  Why?  Because at DAC we consider growth in our relationship with Christ to be the norm not the exception ... in fact, we would call it essential not optional.

With this in mind, we have identified some essential growth areas for every follower of Christ and divided them into three phases to make it easier to get started.
Phase One includes areas like ... worship, service, outreach, compassion and Bible reading.
Phase Two moves on to ... Bible memory, fellowship, intercessory prayer, spiritual gift discovery & development.
Phase Three touches on ... fasting, tithing, accountability, missions engagement, the work of the Holy Spirit.

Growing in all of those areas can seem like a daunting task, but what if we set our sights on just five at a time ... or even one or two?  Can you imagine what might happen in your relationship with God and how that might impact your family, your friends or your community?

We believe the Take Five Challenge take discipleship "off the shelf" and makes it something everyone can engage in.  So pick up any of the three "Take Five" phase cards from the info rack in the foyer and join us on the journey!  (We made them bright orange & yellow so they're hard to miss!)
